Finals Week
" May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands."
Psalms 90:17
The
best thing that you can do to help your kids through finals this week
is to help them relax. Chances are that they feel enough pressure placed
on them by themselves, teachers, the fear of not getting into college,
etc.
This
week I encourage you to serve your student by bring them their favorite
coffee or tea drink home just because. Invite them on a walk with you
to talk about anything that might be on their minds. Before they go to
bed this week, ask to pray for them and their upcoming finals. When they
get home from school over this next week, instead of asking them about
finals, start with asking them about their day and how they are doing.
Most likely they will spill about finals because is dominating their
minds.
Blessings as you look to love and support your teens this week as they journey through finals.
As a reminder, June 21st High School Youth Group will be in recess for Father's Day. See your student again on June 26th - 28th for The Experience Weekend. If you want to know more information about this this weekend, please email Steven Johnson at Steven@gslcirvine.org

The GSLC HSM Youth Family Blog exists to equip families to pass-on faith, through weekly blog posts. These weekly blog posts are tied to youth group conversations. On this site you are provided with easy to follow conversation starters for families to use around the dinner table, on a car ride, on a walk around the block, or just sitting around at home. We believe that as you implement these into your family's weekly routine you will see the Spirit of God start to transform your family.

This Week's Topic
"Senior Speak"
Theme Verse
"6 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” Romans 1:16
This Sunday, our seniors told us how they have been shaped by God during their time in high school. We know from their testimonies that they are not ashamed of what God has taught them. God alone is their hope and salvation. This week in our faith faith conversation we look at how God has shaped your families stories.
Day 1
Scripture: Romans 1:16-17
- What was your high and low today?
- Read the scripture passage together.
- What does this passage teach you salvation?
- How has God's message of salvation been transformational to your life?
- Pray for each other and a person who does not know Jesus.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:18
- What was your high and low today?
- Read the scripture passage together.
- What does this passage teach you about the message our life should be proclaiming?
- How is God calling you to respond to what he showed you?
- Pray for each other and a person who does not know Jesus.
Next week, we are going to have a special "remember and celebrate" youth group where we will share stories from how God has impacted our lives this year. I invite you to share how God has impacted you this year with your family members.
- What was your high and low today?
- What does it mean to celebrate?
- What do you want to celebrate from this year?
- Spend some time praising God for what he did in your life and your family's life this year.
